Scott Tran studied violin at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln and received his Bachelor's in Music Performance in the year 2005. He plays with the Symphony of the Southwest formerly known as the Mesa Symphony Orchestra currently celebrating its 52nd season of performance and Musica Nova, a professional orchestra performing new and neglected music from the 19th century to present. He also plays regularly in weddings and church services here in the east valley including the All-Saints Newman Center and Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

Scott Tran began violin at the age of 11 and participated in the Nebraska All-State Select Orchestra all three years of high school. In his last year as an All-State orchestra member, he sat principal second violin of the orchestra. During that time, he also played with the Hastings Symphony Orchestra performing new and standard classics of the orchestral repertoire.

While at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln, Scott had the distinction of sitting principal second violin in the UNL Symphony Orchestra in addition to accompanying many of the artists that played there including Richard Stoltzman.  

Scott received a music scholarship from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln in music performance and while there spent four years teaching private and group violin lessons with the nationally recognized UNL String Project. He has taught private violin lessons for the past 8 years and is currently in his third year of continued lessons in the East Valley. In addition to his private studio, he has taught after-school group violin classes at several different elementary schools including Claireborne Elementary and Good Earth Montesory, and has been subcontracted by Tempe High School to supplement their orchestra program offering private lessons to individual students.

Scott Tran's background is not limited to strictly classical music, he also plays in bluegrass groups, rock bands, jazz duos, and sits in regularly with various groups and artists such as Rebecca De La Torre, Mary Hoffman, Verse Seven, Mackenzie Road, Bobby Cook's Jamioke, and a Boy Named Sioux. Scott is noted as being an exceptionally versatile musician, an improviser, a fun and gifted teacher, and an innovative performer and instructor.
